@Rairii @aviumcaravan @kajer @esm the official reasoning is i think that the reference decoder is written in a memory unsafe language which is not too unreasonable of a library where the immediate benefit is very low but the risk of it being exploitable is far higher
inconsistent standards tbh because from what i can tell the av1 decoder/encoder chrome is using is david and libaom1 respectively not rav1d/rav1e

i guess the linguistic process behind laden for downloading an app is interesting because herunterladen is a verb with a preposition so in many cases the preposition will be split off and put at the end of the sentence
like you’d say “du lädst das spiel herunter” (or “du downloadest das spiel” which hopefully illustrates why i think that first point is true) but you generally already know what is meant after spiel.
i dislike it because it’s imprecise. downloading is generally slower than just loading :(
