it's slightly surreal to try and run a program only for Windows 3.1 to go "Watch out, this is some legacy software, and might not work well on modern 1992-era operating systems!"

My mother used to with film rolls for . And the fun thing about slides is, that colours are kept relatively well. Recently I found this photo (that I scanned) of the Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe and the Gross Glockner. It's from the late 1960s. I recognised that building. I've been there on my trip last year.

Spot the differences..

Probably a shot in the dark, but does anybody have the tools for burning quality photo-CD's from linux, preferably compatible with philips CD-i?

Ted Felix maintains some old win95 instructions on how to do it in a kinda janky way (http://www.tedfelix.com/PhotoCD/PCDMakeYourOwn.html) but already decoding PCD under linux seems to be a Hard problem, let alone encoding them. For starters: imagemagick only does write 768x512, and only few tools ever got above that!

It could be interesting tho cause my software (darktable) supports highlights above 100% just like PCD. Sadly it's not one of it's output options, that would have been very funny. But it shows how careful you have to walk to produce high-quality files.

Goals are a bit sillier tho... yes i got myself a CD-i and i wanna see if i can show my fursuit photo's on it the authentic way hihihi

Unironically outside of the video game bullshit I am actually of the opinion that the original CD-i concept holded water. Get a CD of your favourite artist, and get as a bonus some artwork, a nice screen for each playing song, and a little video or one of their live concerts; call me delighted!

These type of cameras had a cool form factor--you kind of held them up like a visor when looking thru the view finder. But since we don't really do that anymore we'd need like a screen on the top or a flip screen, which kind of negates the point of flattening the housing like this. Only benefit is that you can put a quite long lens into them compared to e.g. a phone camera.

I guess one could put a screen into the view finder though, and use the camera as an Augmented Reality / HUD device.

sorry everyone, my third wish from the genie was to make the world's electrical standards weirder.

south america is now using 70hz 40v AC, france & belgium are strictly DC outlets (no AC), and apple products are all on 3.3v USB. AA batteries are now 9v, and 9v batteries are still called that but they provide 6v.
