@ben reselling or lending out physical media is also something that digital storefronts tend to make impossible, which is also something you are just allowed to do with physical items
but imo the bigger issue is that those same storefronts can also just Take Away what you have bought for a ton of reasons including ones where the customer was absolutely not at fault at all

@ben if i buy a cd i get to take home the cd. i do not get the ip rights to the music on the cd. I own the cd. i can make copies of the cd for my own personal use. the record label cannot break into my home and confiscate the cd from me because they dropped that artist. None of this is the case with drmful digital downloads

like it implicitly accept the framing that “making a duplicate of something without disturbing the original” is the same as “physically depriving someone of something” which does imo also lead credence of the similar framing that “buying means buying an indeterminate length license” by the same ppl
