pros: on expensive phones (with oled screens and small batteries) this is helpful
cons: a light theme isn’t optional, and theme switching itself also requires apps to rerender the entire screen (and potentially reinitialize color palettes etc) which itself requires energy also. and on cheaper phones (with larger batteries and lcd screens) the dark theme heats up the device which reduces battery capacity
