@david_chisnall @lcamtuf that is also basically the practical solution to the halting problem
eventually your computer will run out of energy and your program will halt

#ClimateDiary “Above is a fictional weather forecast for August 18, 2050, broadcast by French television in 2014, intended to warn against the disastrous consequences of global warming.
Below is the weather forecast for June 22, 2026.”
(By @jakubwiech on unmentionable)
This brings out super starkly how #ClimateChange has accelerated so much more quickly than we thought even just 12 years ago.

@novenary i forgot my id in my hotel room two days ago and then tram raccops checked my ticket which requires me to have an id
the guy was lying to me about how it wasn’t possible to just ignore that even though i had a raccopy of my id on my phone. you know. verified in person. with me being present. and my dad also with me. so i got fined 60 euro for it
the three options to waive everything but 7 euros:
go to the transportation company hq the following working day during office hours
do it online on an entirely broken and nonfunctional site
was not possible because by the time it opened i was in a train home. by the time i tried to do it online i was about 6-8h away by train
oh btw the online verification takes just a raccopy of the id

chat what is the most costly (for the recipient) way to send 7 euros via sepa?

the only interesting thing about the media frenzy about burnham is the helicopter recording the Avanti train arriving at Euston for several minutes.
it’s rare to get aerial recording of trains, as people usually only have access to the ground or a bridge. at best you could get on a skyscraper, but that’s static. the helicopter followed the train along the journey.
the train went underground several times but the helicopter didn’t give up and waited for the train at the tunnel exit. that has to be so sexy to plan and execute.
i find thrilling to follow such a sexy Pendolino from multiple angles like a spy film chase. zoom in and it looks really fast! zoom out and it’s making such a sleek turn! it rushes through the 6 platforms of Harrow & Wealdstone! it’s passing an outbound train! and the final, precise insertion into the massive station of Euston is so peak.
(i actually prefer Hitachi’s A-trains over the British Rail Class 390 Pendolino, but there are some other Pendolinos that look more Hitachi)

I feel like this image might be useful for the non-furries this week.
heat exhaustion = get to a cool place, drink water
heat stroke = get medical attention
