@Byte railways got semi-privatized so everything is fractioned into small little fiefdoms controlled by Nortwestbahn, Westfalenbahn, National Express, Metronom, the list goes on and on. All of these companies are owned by the national railways of France, GB, Netherlands or Germany. Shit's fucked

Deutsche Bahn still operates almost all of the high speed trains and some regional railways, too

I find it so interesting that such wacky arrangements come into being because of privatization

@Byte @u1l and it's just getting worse and worse. Most railroad companies I use on a regular basis are owned by several holding companies listed on the stock market through like three different intermediates. I seriously don't know what's going on anymore
