it's the standard allocation size for homes unless your isp hates you (/64) or doesn't understand how the internet works (/128)

a /56 are 256 subnets of the smallest order which is more than a household needs typically, the last 64 bits can be assigned automatically without any real negotiation because the space is big enough to allow for that
