apparently other people’s depth perception is like significantly worse when they keep an eye closed

@charlotte wait what? This makes sense logically now that you mention it, I just never experienced that myself

@IngaLovinde stereoblindness is apparently quite common as far as eye disorders go, so it wouldn’t be unlikely that you experience it too [about 7% prevalence according to studies]

i was just…assuming that stuff like bio textbooks were massively exaggerating when they said that having two working eyes is responsible for depth perception because i did not experience much at all

mine is caused by strabismus, which is corrected for with my glasses, maybe you have it too idk

@charlotte oh yeah I have a massive one, but I never thought it could be corrected by glasses?
(Never thought of it as a disability either)

@IngaLovinde ah yeah glasses can correct for strabismus to some extent and i think i am at a point where i probably would benefit from an updated prescription lol

@charlotte one of the things I was surprised to notice in the recent days is that, while closing one of the two eyes (doesn't matter which one) does not affect the depth perception, it certainly does make the image quality noticeably worse (when it comes to remote objects), so I have no idea how things work anymore
