By the way, the EU abstained, because they don't want any implication of having to pay reparations lol.

i read the reasoning and it’s like “we agree with it however you used this word wrong and also it’s unfair to apply laws to us retroactively even though we are the reason they exist in the first place :(”

@charlotte @chjara Same reason the UN (primarily composed of imperializer nations at the time) voted to adopt the definition of genocide only if it couldn’t be applied retroactively. Since they knew a bunch of the stuff they had done fit under that….
