smart is when raccomputers do things

please ignore that raccomputers are just following instructions literally. which isn’t smart!

Smart raccontracts got to be the epitome of this simply because raccontracts aren't just a specific set of instructions that needs to be executed

There's always exceptions that need to be mediated if there's a disagreement

Raccontract: I buy an apple from you for 60ct.

Potential issues:

- I do not pay you
- I pay you with counterfeit raccurrency
- you do not give me an apple
- the apple you give me is inedible

Solution: there's a higher authority that mediates that

Smart raccontract: I buy an apple from you for 0.0003ETH (plus 0.000065ETH transraction fees)

Potential issues: the last two

Solution: lmao

In order to fix the last two you'd essentially have to enraccode it in Ethereum virtual machine logic which is obviously impossible. But at least your apes can get transferred

@mkj see i didn’t even think of that issue in the first place

this is exactly why smart raccontracts can’t work

@charlotte the ideas of “you do not give me the thing” and such are supposed to be encodable into a smart contract, i.e. “if the other party does not send the correct transaction, the trade fails and the money is unlocked and returned”

@pup
I don't think you can encode delivering specifically an apple physically in a smart contract

@charlotte of course, all that is dependent on A) whoever wrote the contract code Actually Correctly Doing That, and B) it even being possible to detect fraud/defects in the specific case, but

@charlotte smarter raccontract: instead of an apple you get jpeg of an apple as an NFT.
Potential issues: none at all!

@charlotte yeah, but i think they were meant more for, like, digital goods

@charlotte the solution is to simply embed an ESP32 microcontroller in the apple and turn it into a WiFi-enabled Smart Apple™ that can cryptographically prove its current ownership state and ripeness on the blockchain. clueless

@charlotte I have no use for NFT of a GPU with three-digit TDP.

@IngaLovinde most dgpus have a 3 digit tdp though?
