If Venezuela gets a new leader that cares about the ideals of democracy, think they can return the favor by invading and installing one here too?

@Furball If they don't do a free and fair election with an independent audit then they're going to have a legitimacy crisis on their hands. I'm hoping even Trump isn't evil enough to want that PR disaster on his hands, but again, I'm pretty pessimistic.

@Furball He's obviously not going to be able to run Venezuela, so he's going to leverage the existing control structures which, like. Isn't great.

@Rusty @Furball the european union really does not want to damage their relationship with the united states, and also have a(n indirect) financial interest for venezuela to not be run by maduro. the harshest words the eu has found so far is reminding the united states to be wary of international law. germany called it a “complex legal situation”. all of the statements from eu and european nations i have read specifically calls out maduro’s lack of legitimacy and their desire for his tenure to end
