still debating about replacing the mantels again because i failed to light the lantern (during the repairs) and it exploded in my face causing my mantels to blow open at the bottom

@puppygirlhornypost2 what is a mantel in this context? I only know it as the German word for trenchcoat

but it might not be the worst thing since it directs a nice flow of burning hot air towards the bottom plate and it’s been burning off the rust

@LunaDragofelis @puppygirlhornypost2 it’s like a mesh cup thing that starts glowing when exposed to heat in a lantern

@charlotte @LunaDragofelis It starts off as a bag made of silk or another fabric material (sometimes rayon). It has metal oxides like thorium dioxide impregnated into it (usually just a mixture that’s soaked in). you put it in, burn it with a lighter first, and then it leaves behind this white structure that’s the consistency of ash. I believe my mantles are made out of ytterium oxide.

i just find it extremely sketch to see the bottom part by the fuel tank glowing red hot even when i turn off the lantern

actually i think i should because thinking back the lantern has been really difficult to turn off as of late because the entire bottom part gets so fucking hot that it has caused discoloration of the metal ring protecting the valve

like the plastic piece that lets you twist the valve open and closed gets so hot that i genuinely have to pull my hand back before closing it all the way

@puppygirlhornypost2 @charlotte I see. I only knew them by their German name, Glühstrumpf, literally means glow stocking
