also what's up with the unit? rink tells me A/m is a SI unit for "magnetization" but i don't understand what this means in a practical sense
out of context A/m would imply amps per meter?

@whitequark that's the units of the "H" field, which is related to the "B" field (measured in tesla) by the permeability of the material
unfortunately, we don't have a good intuitive explanation of what that actually means

@r @whitequark 1 A/m seems to correspond to the strength of the H field of a coil of length 1m with 1 turn carrying a current of 1A. is proportional to the current and turn count, inversely proportional to the coil length
@charlotte @r @whitequark Feels like the turns should have been included in the units, like it could have been 2pi Amp-radian/meter but no one wanted to support partial turns if it meant carrying around the 2pi and hey, the reduced Planck constant is popular so let’s just not mention ‘turns’ in the units…
