War on terror. War on drugs. War on autism.
Fuck all of that
It's time we declare the War on Lawnmowers
Outside the window, a ride-on mower is ripping across the parched brown grass. There’s nothing left to mow. It’s all dead because they mowed it all off two weeks ago, and before that, four weeks ago. The remaining three centimetres of grass can’t retain any moisture in this heat
But at least thelast three daisies in a shady corner finally got mown down.
And then you can grab the leaf blower and blow a bit of unburned diesel on top of the whole thing
@schratze And now they're using sprinklers in the mid-day sun to keep the ground moist, which doesn't work, but it burns off a lot of water, so we'll probably see rationing again soon
It's not like we didn't complain about this to the coop last year. And we weren't the only ones. The whole neighborhood can see this miniature desert they're creating.
I got the number of the guy who is in charge of this. He will have to pick up the phone eventually
@anarchiv it honestly feels surreal looking at this while there are private front yards just around the corner with like ten centimeters of grass and flowers which are still lush and green.
@schratze Yup. I'm planning on starting a campaign here using our permaculture association's infrastructure
@schratze lawnmowers are part of the war on plants, and time for plants to play a more active part
@anarchiv hell yeah. I'll see what I can do within the housing coop here
@schratze wd're so lucky that responsibility for our buildings backyard seems to have disappeared into a a legal black hole that makes it impossible for anyone to actually hire a lawn mowing company
@schratze a few years ago, we (not me, but people in my city) convinced the municipality to change the mowing procedure at any municipality grass next to water or roads. They now mow 1/3rd, come back a few weeks later, mow 1/3, etc. So the grass does not grow completely out of control, but there will always be taller grass left, with very happy wildflowers, where insects can live.
@schratze there has been a chainsaw at work in front of our house for at least 4 hours now grrr i need to bark at them
