doc@mastodon.social@whitequark PEEK is an amazing material… very chemically inert (almost as good as Teflon), and easy to machine with good mechanical properties (unlike Teflon, which is like machining butter). One of my favorite materials!
I know that wasn’t the point of the post but felt I had to promote the light grey-brown goodness that is PEEK.

@whitequark you'll be pleased to know about the existence of ceramic pine cone ornaments that look exactly as one would expect. I'm not sure if as coffee table piece it would be less evocative or kinkier, though.
