Volpeon An instance on fedi goes down and you probably won’t notice unless you’re on it. A component of Bluesky goes down and nobody can use it.
Stuff like wafrn (dev branch atm) and red dwarf wont get affected
# Old wafrn wont resolve new posts but thats what im fixing atmwhen the bluesky appview went down people in other platforms with their own appviews weren’t affected and people on bluesky could still access the network by using blacksky’s appview, witchsky, etc
If a fedi instance goes down, because the separation pds-appview doesn’t exist, its users have no chance of still keeping connection by login into other instance’s site
Volpeon @palladiumasteroid I don’t know what exactly went down today, and now it’s over so I can’t confirm if switching to a different AppView would’ve solved this

@palladiumasteroid @volpeon the impact is significantly greater still because for the average user bluesky is fully down and they wouldn’t even know what an appview is let alone use another one
