just found out about the fact america has this weird tipping culture thing where instead of the bosses paying the workers a livable wage you are expected to tip the workers instead and it's very very rude if you don't

i don't have a problem with tipping, i always want to thank people who work to make my gastronomic experience good, but like, why the hell do i have to foot the bill because american bosses are stingy ass mr krabs sponge bob me boy type shit people

it's not the tipping really, it's that it's expected to be mandatory and as a replacement for an actual wage, that's just confusing and evil

@mynameistillian the first 5-ish dollar of tips an hour the employer pockets too by cutting your wage, all in the name of not raising prices to ensure employees get paid more than about 2 dollars an hour

@mynameistillian Not only that but, its common for restaurants to have the tips be communal between waitstaff. In the past, tips were taxed.

be careful buying stuff in american stores. the price you see generally doesn't include sales tax, so ecpect it to cost more at checkout
