i have advice for unhappy people who are looking to get significantly more unhappy: touch literally anything that involves MIPI CSI

being unhappy isn't strictly speaking a prerequisite but i've never met a happy person who voluntarily touched MIPI CSI

@whitequark i have only touched mipi dsi and i’m unhappy about it

@charlotte that's a close second. compared to csi it almost feels reasonable

@whitequark my problem was with random undiscoverable breaking changes in the linux kernel. so perhaps the true sadness is the linux kernel

@charlotte oh the mipi bits of it are also not great. but displays just inherently don't have nearly as much complexity as cameras, so you can almost tolerate it

@whitequark can’t wait for there being more breaking changes i spend weeks trying to discover whenever i port the driver over to 6.18

@whitequark maybe the mipi alliance isn’t an industry consortium making questionable standards but an alliance that protects the public from said standards by keeping them secret 🤔
