on tomorrow's edition of silly commutes, i'm taking this train!
no idea what it's doing for 20 minutes between westbahnhof and meidling, but it has a hungarian cafe car, so maybe they can get me a coffee in that time?
ohh, because the train arrives from budapest with a delay of... 1h 38min... hopefully
@charlotte oh no no no that's not an hourly service :D some long-distance eurocity services have been extended to wien westbahnhof since this year for some reason
@sk seems very likely, that they will cancel the westbahnhof part and turn around in hbf
in 3 minutes from hbf to meidling? hahaha yeah sure that's happening /s
@itsKiara which would be a disaster for actual travellers, awaiting the train at meidling or westbahnhof ^^'
@sk yeah, but I think they'd have enough time to go to hbf, if they announce it in the next 15mins
LOL, the other EC that has westbahnhof as its starting point, that departed at 8:00, hasn't even made it to hegyeshalom yet
taking s-bahn trains, changing at hütteldorf instead.
and lol, it even suggests i go back to westbahnhof and take the eurocity xd
now the prize question: how many minutes will my S80 accumulate between wien hütteldorf and wien hbf? (departs 10:36. hopefully)
xD (S80 arrivals at wien hütteldorf)
did these trains switch places or what?! (edit: apparently, yes. the planned "9:52" arrival is expected to leave aspern nord at 10:49)
staying here for a few minutes to witness the train i originally wanted to take
there. the train composition: https://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php?rok=2026&id=49516
this time, the incoming train from budapest arrived on time at 9:00! before i even left the house
i thought i posted "aaand i'm in the dining car and i ordered my coffee!" 15 minutes ago. now i'm in the utasellátó café car, approaching wien speising (no scheduled stop there), with a cappuccino
i was skeptical, but the way from wien westbahnhof—wien meidling really does seem to take 20 minutes. but the train's really not in a hurry, too. we just came to a stop a turn before meidling
okay this is hilarious. apparently, this train (that arrived in vienna with a delay of more than 2 hours) kind of caused a chain reaction of replacement trains in budapest, debrecen and záhony. i'm glad there were users who added the compositions to vagonWEB: https://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php?zeme=%C3%96BB&kategorie=%C3%96BB:EC&cislo=%C3%96BB:143:Tisza|M%C3%81V:143:Tisza|%D0%A3%D0%97:143%D0%9A&rok=2026#2026-01-13
there is a dining car, i'm sitting it, but i shall wait with my order until we depart. which we haven't yet. no idea why öbb thinks there's no dining car. maybe they don't want to advertise it at this early hour?
the delay is currently estimated to be 20 minutes. i overheard something something locomotive something something
utasellátó's cappucchino (3€) is actually really good!
i'm in the loop! (edit: just as last week, according to exif data in a photo i took) no idea how to tell viaduct.world tho (edit: apparently via "add waypoint". i'll try that later)
