People talking about wired headphones/earbuds as if they're some outdated retro tech has me feeling absolutely flabbergasted

@njion I will never understand because all bluetooth headphones I've had sound really muddy and unclear but that might also just be because I main my quality IEMs as wired headphones idk.

@edensgarden @njion they use pretty terrible codecs unless you have headphones and phone blessed by christiano qualcomm himself

and sound quality is even worse while the mic is on

@charlotte @edensgarden I think for most people the point of reference are earbuds that came included with their phone back in the 2010s or maybe those super cheap Sony headphones that seemingly all teens without an income buy for pocket money. Even pretty cheap wireless headphones can pretty much match that level of quality so for most people they're a straight up upgrade. And since most people are used to very cheap wired headphones that don't last more than a couple years at best they already treat audio gear as disposable.

Wired headphones can offer MUCH better quality for the money but only if you know exactly what you're looking for and most people don't care enough to do the research. Even if you spend a bunch of money on mainstream brand name headphones you're likely to get the same shitty muddy sound.
