(It's not undumped anymore, though I'm still waiting on someone else who's dumped these "YJencrypted" cartridges before to check my work. It does work in mGBA though!)

@endrift the ones I dumped stayed surprisingly expensive when they came up on eBay, guess bootleg collectors are interested in the real thing

@Rib @endrift were YJencrypted games actually *encrypted* or did they just have the evil memory controller with trap addresses

@sterophonick @endrift no idea if the actual rom chip is encrypted but if it is it gets decrypted on the fly before it reaches the GBA

I bought this game January 4....2018. It's been EIGHT YEARS that I've been trying to get this dumped. Finally, the deed is done.

@sterophonick @Rib as far as I know, no. I'm guessing whoever YJ was didn't have a great grasp on English technical jargon.

@sterophonick @Rib that said, I might open the cart and probe at the innards now that it's properly dumped

@endrift why did they go through these great lengths at protecting their bootlegs?

@endrift strangely every cart I opened seemed to have different PCBs, but all of them had glob tops

@Rib ah right of course, epoxy blobs. I'd just treat that as a dead end right off the bat. Not worth the effort

@charlotte I have long wondered the same thing
