Why is it that everyone seems to instinctively know to ask us where to catch their train (thus far an entirely reasonable situation) or if we can get them some drugs (???)

In a random grocery store yesterday: “Oh hey, I recognize you! You helped me catch my train!” Uhh any idea how much that narrows it down?
