i have written XSLT before and it was fucking miserable, i would not miss it even if it would disappear from the world entirely

(it was for kicad)

@whitequark What would you use instead? I've found XSLT quite useful for doing what it is supposed to do, which is transform XML documents.

@whitequark the idea of tree transformation grammars is actually really cool. I saw it first in a proprietary parser/transformer tool called Steno back in 1987, and again with TXL. But XSLT is such a shockingly bad implementation, because of its X heritage

@whitequark I got introduced to functional programming through XSLT

I would not recommend doing this if you want to have a good time and go on to do functional programming in other languages
