Some folks know I am an *unashamed* PFsense hater. Netgate is a fucking awful company and I wish them the absolute worst
Unfortunately the owner of Netgate (Jim Thompson) crawled out of the woodwork to cry and piss and shout about people insulting PFsense in a thread about OpenWRT
@CursedSilicon I knew the OPNsense stuff (I use it) but I did not know the same person now haunts OpenWRT.
@Legion495 He doesn't have anything to do with OpenWRT (thankfully)
He's very upset that I said I hope OpenWRT takes a bite out of his company (Netgate)
Update: Jim is still VERY MAD about that Wireguard debacle
And then edited his comment to snark about my work history(???)
Some people might (understandably) be asking "Shaun why are you fighting with the CEO of Netgate on fucking HackerNews"
Because those fucking clowns shipped a known-broken Wireguard stack to every single PFsense user (both free and paid) because they wanted to race to market PFsense as having a feature none of the other firewall vendors had at the time
Of course the best the CEO can do is whine "ragebait"
They're a bunch of vindictive clowns and deserve to be mocked

@CursedSilicon
trying to discredit someone based on work history is such a corpo-pilled thing to do
@pynk It's deeply ironic because they hired a fucking nutjob who wrote *god awful* code that then got immediately replaced
And now he's just whining "A-AND I'D HIRE HIM AGAIN!" like that's some kind of...endorsement???
@CursedSilicon @charlotte
I never thought about it but true xD
Netgate
ned geht (dialect)
nicht geht = doesn’t go
You are welcome.

@charlotte @pynk There's a quote that I'm rather fond of. Though sadly the guy who made it turned very chud-y later in life
"Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity.
Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake;
the grave will supply plenty of time for silence"
@CursedSilicon well i'm now even more glad i switched to OPNsense a long time ago
@crispycat @CursedSilicon I initially started it because of the dashboard and live views. Coworkers found it to be nice and used a Barracuda F18 for it.
I only later learned all the trouble they had with pfsense. And I think I dodged a bullet.

@charlotte @CursedSilicon Some time ago I found this image here on fedi (credit https://chaos.social/@maltepoeggel_de/114575375640757477 ).
The sticker says “Does anyone know why the internet …” and then the logo says netgate.
In German, “netgate” sounds like “nicht geht” = “does not work.”
So together it reads: “Does anyone know why the internet does not work?”
