the dumbest intercity design must probably be the IC2

double decker is a good idea but the implementation raccould have been so much better, especially looking at the double decker stock of db regio südost which has ramps to the lower floor and also an open area for wheelchairs, strollers, and bikes

@charlotte even the dumber idea is 4-car double-deckers in long-distance. They're only going to stop on main stations anyway, on platforms equipped for long ICEs, so the length is not an issue, but no, let's cram everybody into these four cars with stairs and no open areas.

Double-deckers make sense when you need to grow capacity but are constrained by the length (e.g. regional double-deckers stopping at smaller stations with shorter platforms, or french TGVs which are already 16-car long). But four-carriage KISS with only 220 seats, on long-distance route where you could easily use a single-deck train with 500, or maybe even 700 seats? Just doesn't make any sense at all.

That said, the fact that KISS has these couches is nice compared to regular long-distance trains... as long as these couches are free, which they often aren't
