Is it a VPN when you only use it to access the public internet and not extend a private network

@famfo yes, but in this case it stands for Vigilant Public Network

@famfo I mean it is *still* extending a private network even in that use (making the client part of the remote ISP's network)

@famfo imo it’s only a vpn if it lets my laptop and my pc talk to each other when they are on separate physical networks through the vpn, otherwise it’s just a sparkling overhyped proxy server
