I just discovered my keyboard has a key combination to make it appear has a removable USB drive as well as a keyboard.

that is slightly surprising

@lawik I know, right?

you can write PASCAL APPS for this thing?

oh and I can store arbitrary files on it. cool. there's only like 300kb free, but still

I've always wanted a mouse that did that. Embed a 128gb USB flash drive chip into the mouse. Then you can copy a file onto it, then connect it to another computer, and there it is

oh, the pascal apps are for the configuration GUI, not the keyboard itself. aww

yet another thing I need to do for my Ultimate Bench Keyboard: Stick a bunch of interpreters on it, so you can script your keyboard in PASCAL or QBASIC or FORTH

@foone my keyboard has a button that you can hold down when plugging it in that opens up a removable storage device where you drag and drop the firmware onto it

the firmware is GPG signed. How much you wanna bet this device won't let you upload an unsigned firmware?

@foone the problem with it is that at that point the keyboard doesn’t work so i have to make sure i already have the correct dirs open

@foone I would absolutely love that in a keyboard + trackball/touchpad/other combo. Perfect single device for manually deploying updates to multiple machines one by one.

@foone okay, I need to know what keyboard this is now. PASCAL *and* GPG???

@foone
Alternative proposal: mouse with a microphone in the bottom

@sabik I've got at least one of those, it's a mouse-phone.

but it'd be neat to do a mouse with a pick-up sensor that triggers Siri or similar, so you could talk to it

It's got a 4 megabyte flash chip on the main PCB. I bet if I dumped that I'd find 3mb of the flash storage and 1mb of firmware

@tech10 @foone I think, I have seen that years ago. ;)
