Why haven't we moved on from 1GbE to 10GbE as a standard for pretty much everything yet. Why is physical media access just stagnating for consumers

@livingshredder probably a mix of “needs new wiring”, “needs new hardware” and the fact that most consumers just use wifi for everything these days

@livingshredder also like i’m unlikely to use 10GBASE-T because of how unreliable cat5e has been for 1000BASE-T… my new ethernet cables are cat6a for that reason, and i have nothing faster than 2.5GBASE-T (which i cannot use because 2.5GBASE-T switches are so unreasonably expensive)

@livingshredder the required frequencies for going through copper mean it won't travel as far. 12G-SDI already had this problem and it has to carry 12Gbps video.
