I hear a lot of people clamoring for Two-Factor Authentication on FurAffinity after all that's happened, but you really gotta be patient folks, it's hard enough running one FA, let alone 2FA
Remember, no matter how much neoliberals will try to convince you:
Public services should not be required generate income.
Water, Power, Communications, Healthcare, Education, Public Transport, Mail, Firefighters, Police, Libraries, Swimming Polls, Roads, Generally all infrastructure, Military
None of these things were created with the idea of making big profits with them, they are meant to provide you with a service which is being paid for with your taxes. Privatizing any of them will make them worse, not better.
Though, companies are very good at pretending they are better for a while, by simply deciding to lose money for a few years. The bill always comes due before long, though.
Why is gender even listed on ID documents anyway? The only way to check that is to grossly violate someone's right to privacy and bodily autonomy.
It's as utterly pointless to list as someone's outfit.
OK, looks like Philippine English already solved the âgender-neutral alternative to âsirâ and âmadamââ problem

People need to stop referring to "the economy" when they actually just mean "having a good job that pays the bills" or simply "having a good life where I am thriving."
Because when politicians and pundits refer to "the economy" they are talking about the stock market or GDP.
For too long we've accepted the lie that those things are correlated, but they aren't.
Talking about "the economy" is just gaslighting. Be explicit about what you want from the people in power.
Donât. Ever. Publish. Stuff. That. ONLY. Supports. Dark. Mode.
I mean, I know a LOT of people love dark mode, and given the benefits that darkening interfaces provides⌠I get it.
But there are some people (like me) who may be visually impaired. Astigmatism, for example, can make reading text that is white on dark a real PITA. An effect known as âhalationâ occurs, where each letter behaves as if it were a flashlight, gaining its own halo of light and making all text read more blurry than normal.
No matter how good your glasses are, astigmatism still causes you to see a little blurryâitâs something you get used to. But this damn effect makes all the text read as if you donât have your glasses on, or even worse, leading to much more tired eyes or even pain.
For everyoneâs sake, if you really care about accessibility, respect user preferences. If you want a dark interface by default, offer a light version if the user specifies it (in web design, this would be prefers-color-scheme: light
). The same goes for light interfaces.
When I was 21 I was told that pregnancy could (and probably would) kill me AND that I was likely infertile.
I asked to have my tubes tied & was told âyouâre too young. You may change your mind & want kids.â
𧾠on reproductive health, bodily autonomy & misogyny in medicine.
First off - this was devastating news at such a young age. I had stage 4 endometriosis, a tipped uterus, adenomyosis & other health issues that made pregnancy unlikely AND dangerous.
I was told in the event I became pregnant - they would have to recommend termination.
Abortion would ALSO be risky to my health - though less risky than carrying a pregnancy to term.
Given the threat it seemed perfectly reasonable to request a more fail safe method of birth control (tubal ligation).
I was having laproscopic surgery anyways to try and remove some of the endometriosis - so they were literally already going to be operating. Tying my tubes was a negligible risk compared to the rest of the surgery.
Imagine my shock when I was informed they wouldnât do it because I might change my mind and want kids.
I asked them whether my âchanging my mindâ would change my prognosis or their recommendation. Nope. They would still recommend termination.
This was the first time I truly understood how deep misogyny and patriarchal values ran in medicine. My theoretical ability to bear children - whether I wanted them or not and whether it was safe or not - was more important than my health and my life.
It was infuriating. An IUD wasnât an option for a myriad of reasons so I was stuck on hormonal birth control that I didnât tolerate well. I was also getting sicker from the endometriosis & adenomyosis⌠and it quickly became clear a hysterectomy would be best for me.
Given doctors werenât willing to entertain a tubal ligation - you can only imagine how they felt about a hysterectomy. Same tired arguments about how I could change my mind, I was too young, what if I met a man who wanted kids blah blah blah.
I got these responses from male and female physicians - all of whom were willing to let my health significantly deteriorate rather than âmake me barrenâ. None of whom listened to what I wanted to do with MY body.
I continued to push for surgery because I knew it was what I needed - and was forced to undergo multiple psych evaluations. I heard everything from âdonât you want to be a motherâ to âwhat if you meet the man of your dreams & he leaves you because you canât have kids?.â
How is it appropriate to ask ANY woman these questions? Let alone a woman who has been told - repeatedly - that pregnancy would put her life in jeopardy? It was as though they thought something was wrong with me because I didnât want to risk my life for a hypothetical baby. 1/2

there is one thing i hate about cycling competitions like the tour de france. it's that all those cyclist just fucking throw their water bottles everywhere. (actually there are more things i hate about this but thats besides the point) The route just becomes littered with trash from the cyclists.
Feel free to ignore this post but i am going to wall of shame now. with all poluters i can spot.
Say it with me:
"IQ IS JUNK SCIENCE INVENTED BY WHITE SUPREMACIST EUGENICISTS TO JUSTIFY THEIR IDEOLOGY"
It is not an "inconvenient truth". It is not an otherwise robust instrument that is misused by some people with an agenda. It is not something that's pretty accurate but that is complicated by societal factors.
It's bullshit. Bupkis. Bunk.
As Johnathan Frakes says in that one show, "We made this one up. It's a total fabrication. It's pure fiction. It's a made up tale. This one was invented by a writer. It's an urban legend... that never happened."
Don't forget. Remind yourself if you have to.
the ironic thing is that the pharmacy giant CVS has always kept their source code in subversion
I reached a new level of Pagliacci'ing myself: I googled something and got exactly one result: ME.
