In French, the word for "factor" is "facteur". But it has another meaning: mailman. Yes, the one who delivers letters in your physical mailbox. For this reason, there is a funny meme in French where 2FA is in fact your mailman coming in and confirming that it's you.

androidarts@mastodon.gamedev.placeIt's interesting how the bicycle took on the modern shape pretty early (135 years ago), but the general idea of riding on two wheels was apparently counterintuitive historically.
It makes me wonder if the Romans could have made them. They had decent roads and a bicycle doesn't necessarily need modern material science. They're hugely energy efficient for transporting armies, and don't need food. If demonstrated well, that tech tree could have developed early. We might have had ancient bike-wars.

soatok@furry.engineerI proposed a way to incorporate Sender Authentication in age with the following advantages:
- No catch-22 between encryption and signing (no rebinding attacks)
- You have to be able to decrypt the message to verify the sender
- No new cryptographic primitives (e.g., signcryption)
- No in-band signaling or downgrade attacks
However, it does have one requirement that people accustomed to PGP use cases (and tolerant of PGP footguns) may find annoying:
You must know, in advance, the public key of the sender in order to be able to decrypt the message.

misty@digipres.clubSaw some blog post talking about "lessons from AI programming", and there was a whole section about treating agentic AI like an "intern". The whole point of internships is it's for the *intern's benefit*! It's so the intern gets work experience! An internship shouldn't be synonymous with mindless gruntwork!
...obviously I get that internships are widely abused, and a lot of people treat junior devs poorly. But itâs depressing seeing people just be open about it.
