The latest Mastodon security vuln (GHSA-jhrq-qvrm-qr36) appears to be an exploit that can be used against instances that host their media on the same domain as the Mastodon instance itself
Reminder: It is best practice to put user uploaded media on a different hostname - ideally, a separate domain name entirely, but if not possible a subdomain will suffice.
(Note: Even if you do this, you still need to upgrade; the exploit is against remote instances0

alexey navalny, one of russia's most influential political oppositioners who protested against putin and became a political prisoner, was just reported dead. he died in jail.
although my views don't align to his at all (he is a neoliberal, and i am an anarcho-communist), what happened here is a testament to the fact that russia is a dictatorship. putin is a bloodthirsty war criminal and a nazi that will go as far as to slowly kill anybody who dares to question him.
