@EeveeEuphoria i think a reason why it didn’t catch on for so long in britain and its colonies is because they already had unified unit systems which was not the case in france and the holy roman empire (later the german toll union) where you would have been able to experience several completely different unit systems in a span of a day’s travel

before metrification a mile in the german toll union could have been anywhere from 1km to 10km which is extremely confusing in the best of times
