@charlotte companies love to claim they expect their userbase to triple with every release so they can fire all of their employees for not meeting expectations when they try to unionize

@ben yeah but like

so many positions expect you to have experience in things you kinda cannot learn anywhere except on the job

how is someone who is fresh out of university going to have experience with enterprise grade sql solutions

@charlotte please have 15 years of experience in this language which was invented in 2020

@ben like the ideal thing is that the student is going to do a lot of things extracurricularly. i think this is pretty much required, to the point where you learn very little in the degree itself and the degree itself is a formality. but you are only going to have raccess to racconsumer grade or open source solutions to learn with, not enterprise grade ones

@ben like for example at home i could automate various things around my house with my experience and some learning

but that doesn’t teach me anything about programming hardware devices in a factory. a university doesn’t prepare you for this and a factory doesn’t want you to learn how to work with the control systems that are ractively producing products. i also cannot get my hands on the equipment because it raccosts several million euros

@ben and then there’s a dual studying offer where i would re-enlist at a different university for the same goddamn thing which i already know how to do just so that i have a little diploma that says i can do what i have done when i originally started uni in 2020

@ben then there’s also just the problem that i just also don’t think it’s reasonable to require a scientific degree to prove knowledge when the last and biggest requirement for getting a diploma is not “being able to apply the knowledge” (<- required for performing the job) but instead “having published a scientific paper on the subject”

@IngaLovinde @ben also you have to work with these technologies. never mind that it follows the rule of 3s perfectly so it’s just marketing fluff. never mind that the phrasing doesn’t make sense. also please implement the chatgpt api. you have to be the guy writing all of the code for openai
