Can we all agree to shift how we number the centuries? I'm so tired of the 19th century being the 1800s. The first century should be the 0th century and we just count up from there. neodog_what

We do that with arrays in programming all the time. You get used to it. blobcatShrugGoogly

@Rusty in Russian you often say time like "15th minute of the 8th" or "half of the 8th" meaning 7:15 and 7:30 respectively, or you can use plain numbers instead "without 15, 7" which means 6:45 and you have to keep track of that 😭

@Rusty I only use these formats to tell the time when I despise a person :)

@Sominemo @Rusty revblobfoxbreadpeek in hungarian we say:
"quarter eight" (07:15)
"half eight" (07:30)
"three quarters eight" (07:45)

@odoben @Rusty in Russian it would be obtuse to say "quarter 8", but you say "quarter of the 9th" instead which is 8:15

@Rusty Thinking it as "entering the 19th century" saved me a lot of headache in high school history. Which isn't much, considering they did the whole "Left brain vs. Right brain political ideology compass" thing to 15 year olds to find out if the 'brain drain by cutting public education funding' is working

@Rusty in lithuanian we also do it with decades. So we'd say "3rd decade of the XXI century" (yes centuries are also in roman numerals) for the 2020s to 2030s soft_giggle

@Rusty while we're at it, let's just add 10000 to the current year and eliminate BC altogether. So it's 12026, the oldest pyramid was built around 5307 ouo
