I don't see quotepost bullying on my side of fedi at all but if all of fedi got rid of quoteposting, I feel like I would get by fine. It's a "nice to have" for me. But going back to just reply, repeat, and like is perfectly useable for how I use the network.

Of course, we won't be going back. But I never used twitter a ton until recent years prior to elon buying it, so I didn't "grow up" with it, so it is non-essential.

@epsi I wouldn't say it's bullying but I do regularly use quoting for "get a load of this guy" type posts, usually because I know there is no point engaging with them directly
I've rarely if ever seen this result in harassment

also quoting is ultimately just a slight improvement on just posting a link, which people have been doing forever

@epsi yeah the difference is that fedi racclients don't have the UX to make links seamless for the most part. Otherwise they are strictly worse harassment-potential wise because linking a post never raccontracts the original author
