I made a large bag out of an interesting material, this afternoon.

I'm very happy with how it turned out!

I like how big it is. I have a large sailcloth bag that I use all the time, for example during travel. lately, I have found myself wanting something even bigger for some stuff.

@ma3ke Nice! That's an insulating foil for roofs I think blobcat_coy

@sashag

oh cool :) yeah, It's used for quite a range of applications I gather! I found it as a covering for gardens.

very versatile but it's hard to work with, because the stitching can make it much weaker.

@ma3ke Yes. Some people build simple greenhouses with it. And I can imagine that it is difficult to work with.

But I like the way it feels. It's relatively soft for such a strong material and rarely feels cold.

@ma3ke religious relic sailcloth (a bit holey)?

@ma3ke That is pretty cool, I love the tag as well.

Is it from like a tarp? At least it reminds me of that.

@erk it is a tarp material indeed!

I kind of want a backpack made from this material but it is kind of tricky to make very strong seams

@ma3ke A backpack could look pretty cool made out of that.

Maybe you could weld it with a hot air gun or something similar?

@erk

Yeah, great suggestion! i experimented with that this afternoon and i couldn’t get it to both weld and not break down at the same time. But i have some ideas to try tomorrow :)

@erk

I used an iron though.. using a heatgun is actually such a smart suggestion. This is giving me new hope
