speeding really does not help you get to your destination that much faster. because of the inverse relationship between time and speed, going over the speed limit only saves a couple seconds at best, on any given journey. it simply is not worth the risk.

if you actually want save time in traffic, you should be running red lights and ignoring stop signs.

speeding can be an effective strategy in school zones but usually they are not sufficiently large for it to matter.

however, if you find a several mile long stretch of contiguous school zone, and plan your trips around this, then speeding can easily lead to tangible timesave. the trick here is to maximize the amount of time spent speeding in a school zone, because it also maximizes your timesave.

@sodiboo I have seen people do reckless and dangerous overtaking maneuvers that would have killed someone if it went wrong to……wait at a red light a few seconds sooner

@charlotte this is exactly why running red lights is so effective; even in the few cases that speeding saves any time, every red light will bottleneck the journey anyways and actually negate your negligible timesave entirely.

@sodiboo
I'll bring my own timesavers: cans of propane
