Apparently it's normal, in Germany, to have multiple phases to domestic properties? 🤔 Indeed, your oven will expect 2/3 phase.

Is the UK weird in having high-current single phase as the norm?

(3-phase in homes becomes more common as people install car chargers etc.)

@hugh had the joy when moving into the current place that the old hob only expected 2 phases, but the new induction one wanted 3

only 2 phases were wired to the hob, had to run a new phase

@q @hugh huh, does it actually require three separate phases to function? I thought that was only for power / balancing reasons, but you could run two or even all of the terminals off of one phase just as well. But running a 3rd phase is cleaner and future proof of course
