@charlotte mastodon has issues with no spaces between shortcodes iirc
at least in display names

cinny
apparently the issue is that

  1. lotte’s avatar emoji thing is 2MB
  2. the mast of don does not like no spaces between shortcodes

@charlotte iirc invisible characters work so like, zwnj would be a reasonable alternative

@xarvos @charlotte lol the ipv6 argument makes no sense, you should probably use code tags for adresses

@novenary @charlotte iirc gitlab or github parse emoji in the code blocks in comments so i see ❌ and 💯 so often in logs

@xarvos @novenary @charlotte

Gargron be like:
neofox_reject Supporting a frequently-used feature properly
neofox_approve Supporting a use-case nobody ever needs

@volpeon @xarvos @novenary for what it’s worth

no issue on akkoma. it doesn’t even show any suggestions

@charlotte 2MB for a small icon is rather insane not using any compression? For the record a lot of the photos I upload are less than 500KB!

@charlotte that is way to big for something displayed so small, either cut the size (maybe 1024x1024?), change the compression settings, or change it to jpeg

@deetwenty cinny it’s meant to be displayed as a full sized avatar when you have a userscript installed

anyways we moved it to use the same emoji tooling as all of other other emoji, so it gets processed by scaling it to 256px and pngcrushing it

@charlotte 2048x2048 also is quite big for a full sized avatar most of the time (not many people have a 4k display, and even a 1440p screen can't display that fully), but anyway sounds like it is fixed
