Do self-checkouts still cross-reference weight where you live?

@Sominemo some do, some don't.

the co-op near me doesn't bother, but they're the only store to not do that

self checkouts really don't like my backpack lol, makes shopping a pain in the ass

@5225225 weight based systems really don't like anything that's heavier than a thin plastic bag and I'm negativity impressed by the fact this was not fixed in most (all?) weight based checkout systems.

@Sominemo i feel part of it is "the bag shifts around, changing the weight"

if i have my bag flat on the sensor and don't move it much, it seems to work fine (but then putting stuff in is a pain)

i guess the solution is "stop giving a shit about shoplifting though a self-checkout no one cares", or having like. hooks? to hang the bag on? but a minority of people actually use a backpack with shopping so.

@5225225 I really doubt weight checking prevents anything much, it has waaaay more false positives

@Sominemo @5225225 supermarket where I usually get groceries has a system where you scan as you shop and then weigh your entire trolley
they have QR codes on those, probably for individual calibration? and you can also tell it that you're using bags
never had a validation issue that wasn't either a mistake on my part or didn't go away with a reweigh
