Because I entertained the idea once several years ago and another person reminded me, would anyone want a CorgiBeans plushie of my fursona?

They currently do not exist, and I have zero idea about timing or logistics or whatnot. I'm just curious if folks would want one.

@soatok I don’t usually buy plushies at all. I do love plushies, but I strongly disagree with the manufacturing process. I’ll buy a plush only if I’m sure it’s been made by one artist.

I won’t buy plushies from stores, make ship, or places like this person’s operation. And I look down on people, especially artists and influencers who use services like this one or makeship to sell plushies of themselves or their characters.

A plush doesn’t cost 20 bucks (makeship) or 50 bucks (this corgi beans person) it takes hundreds of dollars in labour (not to mention materials and shipping and such) so when they are priced so low, it’s because somebody is getting massively exploited for their labour, usually in a sweatshop overseas where nobody can see what the conditions are like, putting these things together for a couple of dollars each (if that)

Some people are okay exploiting others massively to turn a profit on a run of these plushies, but I think it’s shit to profit from others like that. As for buying them, much of what we buy is made unethically, but while I can’t avoid buying essential things like clothes, a plushie isn’t an essential item, so I don’t support it. (Even though like I said, I love stuffed toys)

Do you know any makers you'd recommend talking with about commissions?

My working idea is to commission an artist to make one of my sona, and then pay them to publish the pattern(s) needed for anyone to make their own. Kind of an open source plushie project.

What do you think about that?

@soatok I get it now, it's so one could put you next to their monitor, and every time they even think about creating their own encryption scheme they'll look at you and say, nah, Soatok wouldn't approve of that.

@soatok @Mudlark I agree with the above criticism of the mass-produced plushie industry, but would be interested in trying to make one myself if a pattern was available.

I have no idea who to go to for commissioning a pattern, unfortunately. The ones I've bought patterns from either no longer work in the field or explicitly do not take commissions. If you have a 3D model, you could try https://plushify.net/ , but they require buying a commercial licence for sharing the generated patterns.
