i sure love how bluesky is “decentralized” and i “host a node” yet i can’t see jack shit with the central appview being down

@EeveeEuphoria “decentralization? At this time of year! At this time of day! In this part of the country! Localized entirely within your app view?”
“yes”
“may i see it?”
“no”

the other thing i love about bluesky is that currently my PDS (which is Essentially the database for your user account) is in a crash loop because of ????

this also means that intermittently bluesky will just Delete the posts i see out of existence because it decides that my PDS no longer exists. even if they are just random other posts. outstanding

(this is not an invitation for replybros to tell me that Acktchually this other random piece of atproto software doesn’t have this problem. i know and i do not care)

@charlotte I had this happen to me on mastodon when my power went out for a week but I don't think your PDS is having outages that long, is it?

@ben it’s like momentary outages of <30s

but also like it’s like looking at posts on someone else’s instance and it determines the post Must Not Exist because the database server of your home instance is down

@charlotte actually if it's right now I think bsky is down entirely

@ben no it’s been going on for days

now that the appview works again there is zero official evidence that there ever was an outage

then why write an entire thread of nonsense if you do actually know better?

@aly.codes genuinely if my thread is nonsense, why was it not possible for me (or any of my friends) to access significant parts of bluesky yesterday?

@aly.codes the only part that worked was that i could look at bluesky post mirrors on fedi which speaks more about the resiliency of fedi than bluesky

@aly.codes your post is the exact kind of whataboutism that i specifically did not want to invite to my replies, that i have received in my replies

no KickassSky that is used by 3 people total does not make bluesky not have an outage. you are lying.

i also sure love how logging into my bluesky account will pop up a “warning you are potentially being phished!!!!!!” warning every single time because it’s so decentralized they treat using a PDS that is not bluesky to be a scam

for future note: replybros includes anyone working on ATmosphere projects regardless of gender

@charlotte Bluesky is decentralized in the same way that Panda Express is authentic Chinese cuisine

of course Bluesky had an outage. Blacksky worked fine, as did other parts of atproto—Tangled, for example. Both of these have the entire network given their collection, so it’s not actually relevant how many people use them. you’re not missing out.

@aly.codes actually read my fucking posts or have an AI summarize it for you. You have long overstayed your welcome. Go to hell
