Hmm, since my PS3 issue ended up being mechanical lubrication instead of laser burnout like every Redditor screams... I wonder if this is why everybody's Ultra HD Blu Rays die. :') Cause they will be even more sensitive to mechnical tracking issues... And these players are all sold as 'new' but made about 5-8 years ago... :P

I decided not to go for 4K blu rays to get back into physical media because of the insane price, but also because of all the stories of the disks dying or lasers burning out. :')

Sometimes I ponder if I should have a blog for this kind of stuff nobody want to read anyway

@maruno i have an actual 4k blueray playere (the xbox series x), and by accident i happen to have some 4k bluerays (they are sometimes being sold second-hand for the same price as regular bluerays and they usually come with a second disc on regular blueray)...

... i just don't actually have any display capable of displaying them to their full resolution

@miifox Why have such a modern console then if you don't have a display for it? xD And I am curious what you pay for those 4k discs, cause I can't believe it's cheap. They seem to have extremely collector prestige series prices from what I saw even reaching over 100

@maruno i did have a 1440p display for it but it broke

but yeah, the 4k disks i have i don't think i payed more than 15 bucks for, they were equivalent price to their non-4k variant

i mostly got the console for its disc drive actually, and it's faster loading times (i had an OG xbox one before and the loading times were a pain, so when i got some spare salary i upgraded). the output resolution was never really that much of a consideration
