We are pondering paying for youtube because they once again successfully blocked third party clients... Perhaps they win? But I would still see all the sponsorship ads...

@maruno my ytdlp client still working somehow, of course it needs more updates than even windows on a blue tuesday to keep on running but that's part for the course.

@maruno Huh, strange. I've been using Revanced on Android and uBlock on Firefox, haven't seen an ad yet, despite YouTube's persistence.

@ShadowWolfe I mostly use the Android TV, the GitHub issue is linking to other third party clients that have the same issues. Some people seem to still get access as long as some 'legitimate' traffic is detected by YT, others don't have that luck. The server just responds 403, so they are doing some server side detection of traffic patterns or something.

Revanced and the other proxy services seem to not be detected or have better traffic shaping that fools the algorithm?

There is a new version out now that solved it by limiting the quality to 1080p. Apparently it was affecting only non-premium users who had 4K.
