@partim Denmark has implemented ETCS quite widely, if I understand correctly. Also (or mainly?) on quite rural lines. The line from Lingolm (a bit north of Aalborg) to Skagen was the first to get it. Sadly this then also meant that DSB can no longer run IC3 trains to Frederikshavn, as they are so old it’s not possible or worth it to install ETCS equipment in them. Or something like that.

@tml Are they starting with branch lines because those didn’t have any train protection system before?

@partim @tml There is work to fit the IC3 trains with the ETCS system, but they are still missing quite a few. The Bramming-Tønder railway have the new system, but it is still in a testing period until about the end of next year going by the report from the end of last year.
