@ryzokuken have you considered having fewer chat apps

@q66 I would like to, but not sure how easy it would be. I guess I could cut things like Mattermost first, but when it comes to apps like Signal and WhatsApp and such, I have no option since I can't talk to people across these apps and people on there won't move.

@q66 my only hope is that the EU Digital Markets Act will eventually force all chat applications to interoperate, most likely over the Matrix protocol. At that point I'll remove all those pesky apps and keep just one.

@ryzokuken @q66 I like interoperability but the matrix protocol is absolute flaming garbage so I hope that isn't used.

@ryzokuken well, a lot of these things work from web browser (not signal though) and perhaps being less online is a good thing

don't need to immediately see every single notification ever

@snek @q66 Well, that's a bit harsh but I hope they improve the protocol over time... That said for now it's either that or XMPP... You really want to do XMPP?

@ryzokuken @q66 between interoperability using either of those, or no interoperability, I'd choose no interoperability.

@snek @ryzokuken @q66 Time to back to the original European protocol, IRC!

@q66 @snek @ryzokuken I did a word there, I meant "to back" as it "give backing to", IRC is so very niche within the "proper" community. But it is not fully gone, sites such as Twitch uses a very similar protocol. But pretty much every modern alternative have magnitudes more users
