One of the most frustrating curses of being a software developer is knowing how technical things work, but being unable to make it clear to regular people why “just do _” would entail an absolutely ridiculous amount of work

“Hey can you just turn me into a dragon?”
“Uh, what? No way, that’s impossible”
“Oh come on, you just want to be lazy. It can’t be that hard”
“…”
“Also make sure I get fire breath and the ability to travel through time”

@volpeon i tend to respond by challenging them: "if you think it's so easy, why don't you do it yourself?"

@volpeon Exactly what I am thinking I've been fighting with my ISP all day trying to tell them they provisioned me on the wrong service according to the technician and they keep telling me that they can't and every night my Internet gets kicked off because the router tries to pull a invalid configuration for the node. People need to just accept that they can be wrong and some things aren't possible
