I was thinking recently
Some people say they need to go to the bathroom, when what they mean is the toilet
But is that a distinction that makes sense? Is it a cultural thing?
Here, as far as I can tell, the toilet is generally in a separate room from the sink, shower and/or bath.
Is that the case elsewhere in the world? Hell, is it even true here in Australia or am I just deluded?

@socks In the US. All of those are in the same room. I've never heard of having the toilet be in a separate room from the shower/bath/sink.

Once or twice I've seen a bathroom connected to the outside, but even those had a sink.

Fascinating... I mean it's not unheard of here but I feel it's uncommon
Obv. Public bathrooms have them together, unless you count the stalls as separate rooms

@socks I would say the exterior bathroom is very uncommon, considering I've seen a single digit number of them in my life.

In my case I was talking about home bathrooms. It seems public bathrooms there are the same as here

@DaCutestCorvid @socks i feel like the reverse is true here purely because it's kinda annoying when you need to piss but someone is having the time of their life in the shower so the toilet usually becomes "the smallest room in the house"

@socks I’ve heard of the separate toilet being common in Japan.
